Islamabad is the capital of Pakistan and the ninth largest city in the country. The name ‘Islamabad’ translates to ‘City of Islam’. It is administered directly by the government as part of the capital territory. It was built as a planned city in the 1960s, and replaced Karachi as the capital of Pakistan. It is home to the National Assembly, as well as the Senate, Presidency and Supreme Court of Pakistan.
